Julia's Deck and Awning

This fun project for our friend Julia was built using local Douglas Fir and Incense Cedar lumber. We milled the cedar from a large tree which fell during a winter ice storm just a few miles from Julia's house. This project features mortise and tenon joinery in the awning and housings for the joists in the deck framing, thus eliminating the need for any steel bracketry.
